Don't buy a car if you can't afford one. I didn't own a car until I was 24. There are expences beyond the price of the car. You have to buy insurance, you have to keep it in gasoline, replace tires when they wear out, get it repaired when it breaks down, etc.
My step-daughter in college said that she could never get by without a car but discovering how expensive it is she got rid of hers.
If you still want a car loan first ask at your credit union or bank. The interest rates they charge are generally lower than you will get at a used car lot.

What are the steps you need to take to get a loan for a car? I can’t stand riding my bike everywhere all the time. I’m an adult and I feel silly not having a car, but I really can't afford one.
