How do sims tan on the sims 2 seasons?

How do sims tan on seasons, I heard they can but even when I dress them in swimwear and make them lay in the sun, nothing happens, how do you do it?

How long did you have them lay in the sun? As long as they spend most of the day outside, it might happen.

I once let them lay outside all day, so dont know why it didnt work, do your sims tan?
