How do people become advisors?

I have noticed that some of my friends are advisors, but they weren't before how did they become advisors?

After giving good advise for a long time and having your ansers rated highly you may send some of your advise to the dude or the editor who will look at it and see wether you are advisor material. Or like me an advisor could nominate you for the role. Like I said though your advise has to be understandable and consistant.

I was curious as to why you felt you had to post this question anonymously.

Nothing wrong with you doing that but cant see why the question would require you to do so. It is a perfectly innocent and common question asked on the site.
