How do I tell my Mom that I got my period?

first of all how do I tell my mum that I get my period. I am 11yrs old and just got my period 1 month ago in september and im not sure how to tell her. I live with my dad and my brother so its even harder to tell her that I got my period. I have been useing some pads that I got like a year ago just incase. I go over my mums anytime I feel like it but I just dont feel rite saying I got my period to her and I know that my da wouldn’t understand cause he’s a guy and evey on knows what guys are like. So plzplzplz help me. I am still in school so its important that I tell her in case I run out of pads and then what :(

and second is it normal to get your period at the age of 11 and how long do they normaly last for in the first year.

its okay. just start to talk about something and then just tell her. when I told my mom I made sure no one else was around cause I was really embarrassed. don’t worry just remember that your mom has gone through that time when she had to tell her mom so she will definately understand.

The answer to your second question is yes. I was just reading a site on it and it said you can get your period from the ages of 8-15. This is what my mom told me “just think when you are an adult you will be able to have kids” (I thought it was weird that she told me that now) but just wait til you are older

Hope my advice helps I was only 12 when I got mine and my friend’s sister got hers in grade 4…

I just had my first period and I’m 14 and haven’t told my mum yet - just get her in a really nice mood and hug her or sumthing and then tell her in a happy mood, don’t sound nervous or it will be more embarrassing. Talk as if it’s normal conversation. Good luck!

Answer #10

Tell your mom - she had been expecting it. The average age is thirteen, but you can start your period as early as nine years old and as late as seventeen years old.

The pads with the wings make leaks a rare occurance. This is useful because you don’t want boys to know that you’re currently having your period. You should wear a sweater during your first two years just in case. Accidents happen.

At home, I would suggest throwing the pad and the wrapper directly into the waste bin. You live with boys after all, and so did I.
