How do i talk to my mom about birth control

ME Asked by kayciemarie2010 about 1 year ago, 4 answers.

How do you talk to your mom about getting on birth control??... I've never had sex and don't plan on it till I'm 18 (I'm only 16 now)... But I want to be on it just in case...me and my boyfriend have been pretty close to having sex but we stopped before...

we did it.. Which is good... But just in case next time we dont stop I want to be more protected.. I know use a condom and all but that isn't enough to keep me from being worried forever.. I want to be on birth control.. But im scared of how my mom will react to me asking for it.. Im scared she might try to make me break up with my boyfriend which I never plan on doing.. But im scared she'll over react... Soo.. How do you ask / talk to your mom about it? Have any of y'all ever asked your parents for it? How did they react?

well get your mum alone
(when shes in a good mood!)
and tell her that youd like to be on it just in case
its hard to say how shell react, a lot of mothers are happy your starting to grow up, and happy to help you
but some dont really want there kids growing up too fast! lol
your mom should be fine though,
and she should be happy that at least if you do do it
your doing it safely!

you don't need parent's permission to be on birth control.
When I was 16, I just told my doctor that I was sexually active and she perscribed me to the pill.

But otherwise, you should sit down with your mom and be real with her.
She'll atleast respect the fact that you did that.

there are 2 things you could do:
1)- tell her ezactly what you just told us, even show her how you asked for our help. ask her :wouldn't you rather me be safe?
2)-you could just tell her that your periods are really heavy and ask her if she could take you to the doctor. they will probably put you on the pill. trust me, I know its probably not what you want to do most is lie to yuor mom, but if you dont think she will react well, tell her this.
