How do I quit this job?

I’m working at a store that is badly understaffed. I’m feeling the strain so much now! I feel beat up and tired most of the time. I never used to look or feel so miserable all of the time, but I don’t have another job lined up. I ‘ve gone on several interviews. I also feel kinda bad about wanting to leave when things are so hectic at my job right now. I hate this job, and I only keep it to pay the bills. What can I do?? And what should I say when it’s time to go?

There was a time when companies were loyal to their employees and employees were loyal to their employer. My dad got a job to help his family when he was 12 and worked for the same company until he retired except 5 years he spent in the Army. My dad lived in a much different time than us.

Chances are that your company would fire or lay you off without a second thought if they thought doing so was in their best interest. The fact that you are feeling bad about wanting to quit shows only that you are giving them more loyalty than they give you.

Use your current job as a stepping stone to something better. If they are constantly understaffed and running their employees raged than I doubt this is the sort of job where you will grow or learn much. Start networking and find a better job.

Good luck!

Do what is best for you. I remembered when I didnt like my job very much. I didnt like the customers, my supervisors (they picked favourites and always scolding at me) and I definately wasnt too happy. I thought it wasnt fair. But I talked to my manager about it and things got a lot better.

Girl above, true you shouldnt be a quitter. But sometimes you have to move on and do something you enjoy. No point in being stuck in a position that makes you miserable and tired. This would affect your health both mentally and physically.

Dont worry. Youre time will come. Do what is right for you. As for the job, the opportunity will come. Dont make yourself very unhappy. There are a lot of people supporting you.

well, once you find another job, give your employer a few weeks notice to tell them when you’re leaving. Say, “I have found another job, and I will be leaving in so and so weeks/days to give you time to find another employee to fill my positiion.”

Answer #5

maybe you shouldnt be a quiter… no offence but, quiters never move forward…

Answer #6

Keep this job until you have another one lined up. I made a mistake of quitting McD’s w/o another job lined up and been unemployed for almost half a year, no matter how hard I looked.
