How do I get my crush to talk more?

My best friend Rachel made friends with this one guy named Jerick.He started hanging out with me and my other friends at recess and lunch,but he doesn't talk very much.He's really cute,and I like him.I would like to know how to get him to talk more so I can try to get him to like me.Any suggestions?
