How do i get more people to my website?

I had a new site built and am having trouble getting people there.. Even my friends aren't taking it seriously. Basically it's an online newspaper written by you...a site where anyone can post anything they want... articles of opinion.. maybe I just...

need some good feed back on the site.. let me know whats right and whats wrong with it.. It's called opinionatedthought dot com

well a) I could not not find it on google
b) you should advertise on google or yahoo or something

post it out around your town/area

make it bright and colourful
and people will think that looks cool
