How do i deal with my depressed boyfriend?

My boyfriend has been depressed for the past few months because he is not able to save outside of car insurance and gas. We both worked at the same place and both got laid off. We are now working as temps at a factory and hate it. He feels like hes...

working for nothing because his money is always spoken for. He wants to apprentice for truck and coach. He is a 1st year and not many places will take them. He even tried to get his old job back. I helped him write his cover letter and redid his resume...he only handed out 4 of 20 and he has given up..and he is not willing to travel....

I keep trying to tell him to happy but he tells me that he feels like I nag at him to do it..or I think he never does anything good enough....he is sooooo sensitive lately I feel like I cant even talk to him anymore. I have lost almost all of my affection for him. and when he hugs me I don't feel anything anymore. I still love him. But because he has been so damn miserable...he is just hard to be around. whenever I try to ask him simple questions....he just shrugs his shoulders and says I don't know.

He's already on anti-depressant pills...and the dose is high. I've tried convincing him to go to the doctors and maybe try something else..but he's stubborn. He's only going to be happy when his account goes over 1000...and until he gets that he feels like he's going nowhere and is a low life that cant do anything right.

I tried talking to him today...and expressing that I feel like I cant talk to him about anything..and stuff..and he just thinks I am not listening to him. and that anything he does is never good enough. he just thinks I am telling him that he is stupid. and I am not. I don't yell at him.. I try and talk..many of times in many different tones. he just gets upset and aggravated with me....

I've been trying be supportive but I can only do so much....I don't know what else to do...or how to deal with him..he doesn't want to do ANYTHING. I told him that I think he needs to talk with a therapist..and he says he doesn't need one. I am also dealing with depression as well but I feel like I have to be strong because if I don't our relationship will suffer. It is affecting it.

I'm frustrated and I have no idea what to do anymore.....any ideas?

Ouch ! That is a tough one. I have been rich and I have been poor. Rich because I worked hard for it and poor because I was careless. I am wondering what kind of car he has. Maybe it is beyond what it should be. A Cadillac won't take you anywhere a Chevy can't. Life is cruel sometimes so we have to scale down to survive. It's tough really tough but take a good look at it. What can you do without ? Do you really need a car at all ? Can you ride the bus ? Some very wealthy people have neverr owned a car at all. In the course of a lifetime each person spends millions on cars alone . Don't know if this helps, but you will have to think outside the box to get out of this one. Let me know how it goes.
