How can we have a baby?

Asked by carlotta over 2 years ago, 7 answers.

I'm 22 and My husband is 44. We have been married for 2 years and together for 6 years.
I would love to have children with him. We are both working and would not rely on the state to keep us. However there is one problem. My husband had a vasectomy...

during his first marriage. We cannot afford a reversal procedure and ICSI is totally out of the question.
My next issue is that my periods normally run like clockwork every 28 days and there it is. I am now 15 days late. I have not been with anyone else in the 6 years I have been with my husband. Is it possible the vasectomy failed even though its been over 10 years since the procedure was done? I did a pregnancy test a week ago (wishful thinking) and it was negative. Could this be a phantom pregnancy or a false pregnancy. I've had other symptoms such as dizzyness, painful breasts on occasions, and the smell of certain things turning my stomach? Any Ideas whats up? Could the vasectomy have failed???

Usually when a guy has a vasectomy they go in a few times after to see how much sperm is still there. They will do this until there is NO sperm left! That way they are sure the procedure worked. Im sure hes had that done. If you really want to know, have him go and get tested. If it comes back negative, the only other way is adoption, which isnt cheap either. Good Luck!

Could be psychological. You want a child so much that your mind is fooling your body and you get actual physical symptoms. That's what a phantom pregnancy is after all. It's not real. Stress can cause your periods to be late too, so maybe the whole situation is just stressing you out too much.

My boyfriend had a vasectomy a couple years ago during his first marriage. Anyways, I heard from a male friend of mine who also had a vasectomy several years ago that about ten years or so afterwards it is common for the body to actually repair itself!

Go to your doctor and talk it over with him, he'll be able to tell you everything you need to know and tell him about your symptoms so he can check you out to see whats causing all the body changes lately.

As far as I know doctors can get sperm from the testicles by puncture, and this is enough to make an artificial insemination. If this would not available for you, do make 3 some with your husband and an other man, and after you and your husband can regard the baby as a common one.
