jeez it kills me when people makes things hard on themselves..babe, juss ask her. that's the very thing I would do the MOMENT I became interested in her. that way, you won't waste your time wondering and liking someone who may be straight. dn't be shy, PLEASE. eb/c say she was bi or lesbian or w.e..she wouldn't want a shy chick thats too scared to go after what she wants !! :]

friend her on a social site and see if she says if she is interested in men, women, or both. Or if she is not out, see if she has any gay related things on her a social site page, or if in real life she ever wears any sort of gay symbols like a rainbow bracelet or triangle earrings.

Does she know that you are gay?

If you ask her out for coffee, it could be seen as a getting to know you as a friend thing or that you are romantically interested. So that may be a good option for you as the idea is so ambiguous.
Put yourself out there, get to know her, let her know that you are gay during coffee, see how she reacts. The worst that could happen is that she isnt gay too and you now just have a new friend!
