How can I slick my hair back?

Im 75% black and 25% filipino, my hair is reallly different my hair is mostly straight but not the front the front is kinda cury, I was wondering can anyone tell me how to achieve the look I dont really know how to explain it like usually when I see girls with their hair in a ponytail the front looks slick and nice can someone help me? I want to kinda get the look of the pic thats attached I want to get that look in the front for a ponytail.

when you put gel in the front.. brush it with a toothbrush that you use only 4 your hair..
