How can I put music on my ipod nano?

I know I know...stupid question...but I got this itunes gift card when I got my ipod nano...and when I got home I was like: im going to put some jams on it...like NOW!

so went to itunes.com and tried...it said.. 'windows cannot find itunes...would you like to download it now for free?'

so I tired downloading it...but fell asleep...I have one of the newer computers where...if you arent active for so long, it goes to sleep or shuts down...

fudge dammit that stupid thing I was downloading was lost...
so...is there another way or what?

The Color of your Ipod is Irrelevant to the Question.
You need to Download Itunes in order for your Music to work.
Itunes Converts the music so itll go onto your ipod in the right format.
You need to download it.It may have come in the box wiht your ipod.
if Not then You need to Download it.
Either way,the directions are in the box.
