another way is to increase the amount of exercise.
Since hair is dead skin cell partials, the more you exercise, the more cells that die reniu theirselves, the faster the hair grows ^_^

also, have it trimmed on a regular basis, even if it's just a mm the more it's trimmed the faster it'll grow.
If your superstitious have it cut on the fullmoon, supposedly it'll help your hair grow faster. I kinda wouldn't doubt it because our body it 90% water the moon has effects on bodies of waters, ocean tides such, so why not us too?

hmm, my hair grows way quicker than half an inch a month
last summer it was only a few inches below my shoulder blades, now it's back down to near my butt crack XD

coloring really dries out the hair, so I guess you end up cutting it because of that particular reason, and thats why its never long as you want it. Try a deep conditioner for color treated hair once a week, this will help repair the damaged ends and allow you to grow your hair out.

I think I'll trip up haha btw full MOON loll.. is like here lol.. and um.. horse tail. is that cat tail or diffrent?? lol... and I hope my hair grows faster I read in a book VINIGAR and stining netal works haha yah crazy those who dont know what that is it's like these plants that can grow high and they sting you when you touch it and they like shade... if you get leaves from that plant and let them dry and miz it with vinigar maybe you boil it.. and add it to vinigar lol.. and put it in your hair as if it was shampoo or conditioner myabe leave it in.. man reason why I dont like reading books haha .. but makes sence I guess.. it makes hair stronger and grows fater and heals your damage hair.. anyone who knows more bout this gimmie sum details
