The only way to get Dreadlocks is to braid your hair and then stop washing it. You have to keep the braids in for 6 months to a year before they start to grow together. You have to really want them to make the commitment to keep your hair unkept for that long of time.

NO... skatedaddy your wrong!!! I went from stick streight hair to full blown dreads that I kept for over five years!!! and I never braided my hair once and I washed it every second day.. I really hate how everyone has this preconcieved notion that dreadfs are dirty!!! as for your actual question... you can do it actually a whole lot easier with permed hair anyways... seeing as you need to make teh hair frizzy to start a dread.. then grab a piece and twist... make a whole at the top by the root and slip teh whole piece through.. then frizz it up some more continues kNotting until you have a solid dread... theres my advice... and if you do it rite and use enough wax and make them perty you can leave them for however long you keep them up for,, its a whole lotta work but well worth it..
