How can i find the difference from a hard boiled egg and a raw egg?

The only way I can think of is with water, but it only works if the egg is very fresh.

Place both eggs in cold water. The cooked one will sink quickly and settle on it's side at the bottom, while the uncooked one will float down and settle on an angle or standing straight up
