How can i build university dorms on sims 2?

Well, I've been wondering weather I can or cant build dorms on sims2 univercity. Also I have been wondering how to if you can build dorms. Please help!!

You need a cheat code:

For creating your own dorms from scratch, you need to go add an empty lot to the neighborhood. Decorate the future dorm as you desire (remember to include counter islands, ShinyTyme Cooktop, sprinkler, dorm doors, and dishwasher/sink). Go to the cheat screen and type in changelotzoning dorm. Your lot will now function as a dorm.

Another thing you need to know is to start building your dorm on a residential lot - not a commercial one. This way you will have the mailbox instead of a payphone and the trashcan will be the correct type.
