How can i befriend someone who doesn't tolerate my religion?

Well...there is a guy at class, from a different religion.Ver why nice to talk too.Untill it gets to religion.He just simply can't except that there is no other God than his God.I told him yes I understand.I feel very uncomfortable when he talks about...

that.Can't he see that I am in no position to talk about religion and stuff owing to the fact that I hardly go to church myself.He always wants to debate about peoples beliefs.Which is fruitless in my point of view.You can't really trully debate about things that are connected with one's faith.Even the bible said something about,faith is believing when not seeing I think.SO what the hell's the point.He told me that the scriptures had been chaged through out the centuries.But there's still a lot of people believing in it right?I .But Haven't you watched the Davinci COde? Yes and so what??It's fiction!
That's what I have to deal with with him.I really want to be his friend.I feel that we connect very well,but religion is the only thing setting us apart.What should I do?

You can't... until they grow up and/or mellow out...

you cant. because they shouldn't care what you believe in thats your personal thingthey just need to deal with it or bounce.

The best thing you can do is be patient with him. If you treat him with patience and kindness, he will be more likely to respect you whatever your beliefs are.

Learn your faith, and if he asks you what you believe be ready give an answer with gentleness and reverance. If he asks a question you do not know, admit that you don't know, but find out the answer.

I'm not sure if you are Christian or not, but I did notice that you referenced the bible. If you are, hold fast to the teachings of the Gospel, and try as best you can to live out what Christ taught; remember we are under orders to love and pray for our enemies.

If he is a Christian and you are not, suggest to him that he learn to practice what he preaches. You might want to point out 1 Peter 3:15 1 Corinthians 13. (If he is Christian he should be able to tell you what that means.)
