How can I become emo

I really want to be emo because of thing that have happened I want to change me but how can I be emo it will make me so much happpy I always wer heavy eye liner please help me but please dont be nasty xx

Why do you want a label?
Theres nothing wrong with changing your style up a bit, everyone needs a change now and then. But at the same time you still need to be yourself. Being 'emo' wont make you happy, most 'emo' people are depressed.. hence the name.

im not trying to be nasty or anything but seriously emo is not the best road to take!

If you want to dress emo, go to like Zumiez or HotTopic. If you want to act emo, you feel sad and depressed and lonely. If you want to be emo you can cut your wrists (optional).

you just wear a lot of eyeliner and wear black and cut your self but dont really cut your self its bad

why would anyone want to be Emo.. really think about it...

if you are make friends with them you will get used too it they will wear off on you so just dont go tottaly preppy to all emo which is a style of music by the way... cauz ud look even more like a wannab dear

hunny you cant decide to be emo...emo's arent real I am telling you right now..its a label...a stereo type...and most of all a genre of music...

emo is a music genre not a style...there is a stereotype that goes with that type of music, which is unfortunate...because I'm sure not every person that listens to "emo" music is depressed and self mutilates. Be who you are. Not what you think looks cool. If you like emo music, listen to emo music..if you like a particular style of clothes..dress that way...but dont strive to be what the stereotype suggests, because its inaccurate and mostly just little teeny bopper scene kids acting in a way they think is cool..and giving emo music a bad name.

really you can be whatever you want to be.
emo is just another lable like punk, goth, nerd, hippy, prep, jock, ect,ect,ect...
emo is a genre of music and now a style of dressing.
emo has nothing to do with cutting, thats in its own catagory.
it depends on your opinion of what emo is really
just be yourself, but if the emo style comes naturally to you, then theres nothing wrong with that.

the subculture actually derived from the punk SUBCULTURE in 1979.

From my recourses supposedly an Emo was originally just a slang word used to describe some bands that got emotional, originally fans of Fugazi, a post punk band, in mid 1980's. It later became a sub-genre. Most found it offensive & disliked being labeled Emo. The original Emo is what is now modern day screamo, there were 3 waves. I believe the second wave some how led to the third wave which is modern day. It was basically when new music was cropped under the labile Emo. It was only just recently that clothes, style, & such was applied to it. The style of Emo is most commonly tight jeans(boys & girls alike, it's not on common for men to wear girl jeans in this style), long bangs, or fringe, brushed to the side, hair died black. Thick glasses are also common, or was originally common in the style as well as plad shirts & such. The style is less evolved from post punk than Goth in short I guess one could say. Also, during the third wave of Emo it became common for people to slit their selves to "fit in". How that works out I don't know. Note: not all Emo's slit themselves. & no, it is not a subculture, However, there is supposedly a movement in the process of making it a subculture, don't think it'll work out, & to be honest I kind of hope it doesn't. In my honest opinion Emo is not based on a solid foundation enough to say what exactly is & is not emo, specially when it comes to terms of music. The basis of emo has been changed twice except for the one basic Emo is Emotional. But when you think of it, how can one not be emotional when it comes to their music? Look at Cradle of Fith-their Dooms Metal, 69 Eyes- Romanti Goth, Amy Lee- Plasti Goth, & a lot other musicians. The only ones called Emo are the ones who dress the part-& as I stated, it was only just recently that the style was added to the genre, only a few years.

almost every label going around today is a subculture. there all based on previouse terms
the basis of emo changes so differently because of peoples opinions on it
almost everyone has a different opinion on what is emo to them

emo is music and clothing style. emo isnt a lifestyle. the so called 'emos' that cut their wrists for the whole emo image are only posers. damn those posers but anyway yeah
