How can I be myself?

So, I'm about to graduate high school a week from today! ('08!) I'm going to college in the fall, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to make friends. Don't get me wrong, I can easily make friends and I love talking to people, but in high school I was the complete opposite. I never talked to people or socialized because I've been made fun of in the past and that's probably what affected my attitude. Do you think I can be myself when I go off to college and live on my own, or will I continue to be two completely different people? How different is college from high school?

YES YOU CAN ACT LIKE YOUR SELF BECAUSE IF ANYTHING PEOPLE WILL SOCIALZE WITH YOU FIRST.AND YOU CAN BE YOUR SELF BECAUSE IF PEOPLE MAKE FUN OF YOU THATS CHILDISH.AND THE ONE FRIEND THAT YOU SHOULD know you WILL HAVE IS YOUR DORM PARTNER.AND IF NOT COME BACK ON HERE AND I'LL BE YOUR FRIEND.LIKE WE WOULD ALWAYS BE TOGETHERTALKING AND CHATTING...I GOT CHA BACK...LOL...

The key to making friends at college and what will keep you sane is getting connections! Join clubs, sports, activities, organizations, and just get involved. It will be the best time of your life and remember not to limit yourself. Become involved in at least 3 different things and you will definitely make friends. living in the dorms is great too Good luck! It's tons of fun. I was just like that, hardly any friends in highschool, and determined to have friends in college. 3 years in college and I still know that the key is getting out there and not being afraid! Knowing who you are has almost nothing to do with it, it's time to explore!

College is definately differently from HS...College students are more open to differences...because finally...you could be yourself. and in COLLEGE NOBODY CARES IF YOU WERE THE POPULAR KID IN HS OR THE GEEK OR THE OUTCAST...in college who are you trying to impress?..nobody.. when you start college dont be nervous ...because all college students are looking to make to friends because its a new environment!!! so enjoy your time in college!!! so relax...
