How can i be a charity volunteer in sydney?

I want to help people and animals less fortunate than myself. I was wondering what charities I could be a volunteer for in sydney.

You could go to a homeless shelter and help cook, maby.
And you could probably look up some rescue animal shelters and volunteer or you could maby look into being a foster home for animals until the get adopted out.

I went there for scholarships and grants and stuff, but they also have this thing that lets you search for volunteer opportunities in any area. It works too, because when I used it to contact any organization, they responded fairly quickly.
