if you have the same version of AIM that I do (which is the newest), you click 'Edit' at the top of the AIM screen thing, then settings. When you get to the first screen, it usually has your expressions. If not, click 'Expressions' then 'browse' choose your picture and there you go.
a good site to find icons is iconator.com, btw. They're all the right size and can resize your pictures to fit as icons.
