breast tenderness can mean that you are about to start your period. usually high amounts of estrogen can make your breasts tender. you breast could be tender if they are growing also.

I doubt it's my period coming.
I haven't had one for 17 months.
I suppose it could be my breasts growing.
I'll look up the effects of estrogen on the net.
thankyou.

I found all these Causes of breast pain/tenderness:

-hormones during a monthly cycle
-in the years before menopause
-ovulation symptom
-too much salt
-too many fatty foods...mostly animal fats
-somw times dairy products
-medications that cause breast pain are pills with hormones in them — either birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
-Some psychiatric medications
-some antidepressants
-some cholesterol-lowering medications
-some heart medications
-stress
-Some underwire bras...or too-tight bras...can pinch or cause constant rubbing which irritates skin and breast tissue and leads to pain
-benign growths (tumors or cysts)
-Malignant Breast Tumors
-rarely breast cancer
-Fibrocystic Breast Condition
-pregnancy
-breastfeeding
-breast infection (abscess and mastitis)

-I don't think I'm menpausal
-too much salt/fat is possible but not likely
-I take citalopram which is an anti-depressant but I haven't heard of it causing that
-I'm always stressed but that doesn't explain why it's happening now
-I have a bra and I know it's the wrong size
-I have no lumps or anything serious like that

-I'm not menopausal either
-nothing in my diet has changed in the past 2 maybe 3 years and I have just recently, for the past week have had these pains.
- I did just start an anti-anxiety medication called Remeron. that could be it.
- ha I'm always stressed too, less lately than normal though, could lack of stress be the cause?
-I just had a breast examination and the doctor said I'm straight. no lumps or anything.
-I have never had breast soreness while on my period or before or anything. I have never felt this before.

But it hurts sooo bad! I'm going to call my doctor and see what she thinks.
if I come across any good information I'll post it.
thanks
