Homeless and looking for help from someone who cares

Asked by summertine78 12 months ago, 3 answers.

Hi my name is Summer. and im 30. I am a single parent taking care of my 12 year old daughter Hannah . In August I lost my appartment because of my brother. We became homeless . We stayed at Hannah's grandpa's for awhile and now we had to move and...

now she is staying at her uncle's place sometimes my parents let us stay there. My parents would like to help us out but they dont have the finances to help out with buying a home. I wish that one day I will have better credit and be out of debt it would be nice to some day be able to have a place to call home. maybe if there was some one who cares or a way to my debt better soon I could buy a home and me and my daughter will be happy again and be together. I hope someone sends some good

There should be services and organizations in your city that can help you find a job, get food and clothing as well as help you get a cheap place to live and a decent job. I suggest asking around to find out what kind of services exist. Look in the phonebook and on the internet (ex: google homeless and your city name). If you find an organization or can get social assistance of any kind please do not feel ashamed but take it as a god sent to help you through tough times. You can also try your local church or other religious community for support, information and aid. Good luck!

I agree with zorbot. There are many organizations that will place you and your daughter in temporary housing. I would suggest a local call to social services and ask to speak to a service worker. He/she should get you on track. That is their job. You may qualify for public assistance also and you will be assigned a caseworker. They will work with you from daycare to training programs to qualify you for employment. Many housing organizations will pay your deposit and first month rent. After that, you're on your own. Keep in mind also that you can get furniture and other household items from thrift stores at great prices. I've been there before and it works. You can also get vouchers for clothing and food until you get on your feet. Tell your brother to hit the road and fend for himself...
