Why can't people just be themselves?

People on here ask questions on how to "be goth" or how to "be emo"
...cant they just be themselves?? why be something your not?? why change yourself to fit in..and Follow...the crowd...why not stand out and be unique??

I dont know...I just think its wierd when people as questions like that...sorry if I offended you gents/ladies in any way...im just confused...

it's because people disire to fit in therefore pretty much everybody hides who they are now a days. it's kinda sad

Maybe because they dont have confident with their styles?They thought that if they wear their own styles out people will laugh at them..Or they think it is cool to follow the crowd..

have you considered the thought that maybe these people are youth who havent figured out who they are yet? how many phases did you go thru before you figured out who YOU were?

People are scared of what other people will think of them, and so they follow everyone else so they wont get bullied or picked on. And that person that said "stupid people," theyre not stupid. They're just messed up.

actually I do. but if you asked me that 10 years ago I wouldnt be able to give the same response. you cant judge people that havent had time to grow into themselves and discover who they are. before I knew who I was I went thru every possible phase out there to try and find something I could identify with. how can you know what you like if you havent experienced it?
