High blood pressure is not a dissease; it is a risk factor for other health problems.

You don't cure high blood pressure, you manage it.

Your blood pressure in the doctor's office may not be representitive of your normal blood pressure. Some people get stressed at the doctor's office and get artificially high readings there. This is called white coat hypertension. You may want to get a home blood pressure kit and keep a log of your BP at different days and times.

Cuttting way down on salt may lower your blood pressure but then again it might not. Loosing weight might help but also it might not. Many people find that they only way they can control their blood pressure is with medication. Unfortunately BP medicine can have side effects but fortunately there are many different BP drugs so you and your doctor can keep trying different ones until you find one that works without serious side effects.
