Hey dare to answer?

Asked by mnc22222 9 months ago, 7 answers.

Why a Jew can grow his beard in order to practice his faith ?
But when Muslim does the same, he is an extremist and terrorist!

Why a nun can be covered from head to toe in order to devote herself to God
Hijab But when Muslimah does the same in order...

to devote herself to God she's oppressed

When a western women stays at home to look after her house and kids she is respected because of sacrificing herself
But when a Muslim woman does so by her will, they say, she needs to be liberated!

Any girl can go to university wearing what she wills and have her rights and freedom?
But when Muslimah wears a Hijab they prevent her from entering her university!

Dare to Answer???

Alright, we wont get into religious debates, my family is muslim... but this has nothing to do with Islam. These rules are cultural, not religious...

And to answer your question, people choose to become nuns... There is no choice when it comes to women covering themselves in certain countries... The point is CHOICE. And when all women everywhere choose what to wear, and whether or not they can drive, go to school, or walk about without a man, then perhaps everyone will let the hijab thing go... Until then, stop trying to defend cultures that oppress women. And I see no need to hold tolerance for cultures that are different but oppressive. Sure they may be different. But oppression is oppression. The same sort of oppression used to exist in the western world, and women fought to change it. Now it's time the countries (and I dont want to say the Muslim world, because it isnt all muslims, just some people) give women the same rights men have...

And btw, this whole uproar isnt everywhere... in countries where you've got a mix of religions, like some African countries, the muslim women who choose to wear hijabs or whatever, face no issues. Because it is a choice there. You've got some muslims who wear it, some who dont. And everyone seems to get along just fine.

As to the hypocritical response (not letting the woman into university wearing what she wanted) was just plain stupid...

So you've got idiots on both sides...

Honestly, because that's the way things are. The world is full of things that we practice and believe that just don't make since. Different cultures believe different things - so it's hard to compare the two and ask why they are different.

Also, a lot of times American's can be hyprocrites and forceful (I'm an american myself, but I still think it's true), we tend to want everyone to live like we do, believe what we do, and have our standards.

I guess I agree with mandyloos answer.

what goes with the whole muslim oppression deal is the stories of women being 'stoned to death' for the slightest transgressions. you do not see that in the convent. the taliban have really placed a black mark against the muslim faith- perhaps directing a question towards the taliban would be more effective??
the people who are actually painting islam as an extremist religious belief, by harming innocent people???
maybe reeling in and punishing those of your faith that were chopping heads off of people?
I realize that the taliban, and the terrorists are more the exception than the rule- but if there was a swifter response from the leaders of the islamic faith, to not allow those people to defile the teachings of islam- and to punish them, I believe that we in other countries would not have such dark misconceptions about the muslim religion.

This was the first I've ever heard that a beard was the criteria for assessing a terroist...I thought it had to do with actions, thinking...associates...

Well phrannie, you must have missed the profiling that goes on by authorities... apparently a beard and a muslim sounding name is more than enough... (and yes it is real... I've been stopped enough times by security for no good reason to know it exists)
