How to gain this hot girl's confidence?

ok, this is not your typical senario, its kinda funny...I mean I can't stop laughing at what happened to me either, but here goes nothing...

prequel:

a friend of mine and I were at subway, and this really hot chick walks in, while my female friend catches me checking her out...well, she gets her subs to go, and goes out of her way to walk by our table and drop a napkin, Ofcourse with her number on it...well, needless to say my friend was like, there you go she gave you her number and started bugging me to call her that night...well, after hours of nagging, it turns out that I was convinced...so I called her *Drum Roll please*...she says the number was for my female friend...lol, WOW I was just speechless I wanted to laugh at my situation, but I kept myself straight and then decided to let her talk to my friend...and yes she was a lesbian...now my friend freaked out because she's uber religious and its like waaay beyond her to get involved in something like this, but she's willing to b friends with her, for my sake...because honestly the girl is TOOO hot, I mean I want to b friends with her, just friends...but I did try to extend that hand of friendship but she's seems aloof, and seems to just want my friend, but I want to b friends with this girl, and I don't know a hoot about how this goes I mean especially when she doesn't seem to like men, and I don't think imposing myself would b right either...she speaks french, which is something we both have in common...and God knows whatelse...so how do I gain her confidence??? how to get into her friend's circle...Its just something I must do BUT keeping in mind without hurting anyone emotionally...

Um, ask her to have coffee? I read (perhaps Yahoo Personals, back when I worked @ Yahoo) a while ago that Starbucks is becomming the first place to meet / hang out with a new person.

Also, coffee can be quick (eg, drink & done) so there's less pressure or supposition involved with a longer activity.

yeah pretty funny huh???...for the first time I was happy that I didn't have to lift a finger and the girl gave me her number...haha, but I guess there's a first time for everything...yeah thanks, its good to be back, med school and exams are killin' me
