Want hair from dark brown to light brown

My hair color is dark brown/black and I want it to be like a light brown but everytime I try dying it to a lighter color it really doesn't take and makes it look reddish. Should I try a Dark Blonde or what?

hi you should try sunin you can buy it from boots etc.its like a sampoo only put a bit in your hands and comb it thro your hair.theres loads of it for different hair typs.but its a bleach so be very carefull it doesnt wash out.or ask your local hairdresser for advice

Go to a salon and get it done. You have a better chance of getting the shade you want.

Because your hair is so dark, you will probably have to have the color stripped and then have the blonde shade you want put in. (I know this because my best friend has very dark brown hair and nothing she applies changes it, just makes it look more red, like yours does). Go to a salon to have this color change done. If the bleach mixture isn't right, it can break your hair off totally. In a salon, they have the best products (don't go with one of the cheapie hair chains for this, you need someone who has really trained to lighten dark hair). The salon will be able to also help you with roots, which you are really going to have a problem with because of your dark hair. What about just going with some highlights, maybe like a dark caramel and few lighter ones. The upkeep wont be as hard. I hope this helps.
