I don't know about the minutes thing. Seems like it would be hard to prove.
Now on to the business of you quitting. Please understand that I'm not an expert by any means. I'm going into day 4 without. I started when I was 5 and will be 45 this month. It's a hard thing to break. You need to figure out if you have a chemical addiction or is it habitual. They can seem like they're the same. Next time you want a smoke take one and go through the motions of lighting up, DON'T light it!!! Act as though it's lit. Take a draw off of it. Wait, then take another. Do you feel that craving pass? If so then much of what you're feeling is habit and can be dealt with as such. Find things that give you the same action, toothpicks, straw, brush your teeth, etc..
If the habitiual smoker is not you then you might have an addiction to the chemicals that you're getting from smoking. Nicotine being the big one. I'm using the patch, which for me works very well. I know that you said that your folks don't know that you smoke. Do you think they would freak out if you told them? At nearly 14 can you contact your doctor and talk to him/her? Most doctors can and will help a person that wishes to quit.
I'm not going to lecture you about smoking and such. That would be counterproductive and serves no good. I will however pray for you, which does great good. You may also find help in forming a support group of friends. Your concellor at school may also be able to help. The important thing to remember is that you can do it.
At times of bad cravings I often find that taking a walk without the smokes helps.
DUDE smoking is terrible you can kill urself and others thats terrible some 8th graders at my school do and they are all wrinkly.
I dont think you want your voice to be ruined and your face to change by the time your 20 your gonna look like your 60 trust me my school has a dare prog. and we saw a video I hope you stop soon I dont think anyone wants you to die
sighs...the issues of smoking! well I've got a girl that's madly addicted... and it's tough for her to quit too... it's kinda hard because you're young... but since she's 18... her doctor is able to prescribe her these pills that help her stop craving for ciggs, think it's called bupropion! along with the pills... she has said that nicotine gum and patches work quite well!! you otta have a good mind set and the will to quit... gotta list out all the reasons you wanna quit and STICK TO IT! so like... stay away from smoke, take a walk instead of a smoke, find a better and healthier addiction instead... pick up and interest in a sport or weight training! - and keep in mind that if you're ever tempted to smoke... you'd have a harder time breathing playing the sport you do!!
