In order to see how many calories you need to calculate how many calories a day you should consume for your height on average there are plenty of calculators to use online. You could just google it, For example Im 5'6" and my basal calorie intake a day is about 2,100 calories a day, in order for me to loose a lb a week safely I should cut out about 300-400 calories off that a day. You just need to keep track of your calorie intake, I keep a journal where I write down everything I eat. There are lots of free websites you can join which allow you to type in the food you eat daily and it adds up for you. Try http://www.nutritiondata.com/ its a great site which can really help you. Dont try to loose more than 2 1/2 lbs a week, also 20-30 minutes of jogging can help you burn an additional 300 calories a day. Get active! Good luck
