yes it will, I suggest not putting conditioner in your hair before you do it and use some mouse to help the hair from slipping out

your hair just has to be long enough... if its not long enough it will come loose... and I used to braid this white boy hair and he had this stuff like gel/wax stuff that was just like holding gel and it worked good with keepin everything in place...
