How do I upload video from a digital camera to a computer?

The digital camera we bought, both canon & sony previously, came with software that installed onto the desktop. When the camera is attached to the computer through either USB or firewire cable, you can easily copy over the movie. Or if you can use the memory stick from the camera in your computer, that will work as well.

if it has a memory stick like mmc os sd card use a card reader or use the cable that came with your digital camera
