***Well all these people are saying dont start but the risks of addiction and ill health are very overated. It relaxes you and feels good so yeah ...go for it.***

I don't say this often, but you're an idiot.

The risks of addiction and ill health ARE NOT overrated. You OBVIOUSLY don't HAVE ANY CLUE what you are talking about.

And smoking has been PROVEN to INCREASE stress levels, not decrease them. So how the hell do you deduct that it relaxes you?

Don't start, smoking has the following side effects.

* Coronary heart disease has been the leading cause of death of smokers. While smoking the heart is put under heavy duress due to the plaques and toxic smoke that is caused from smoking, which in turn has a sub side effect that branches into the hardening of arteries, blood clots, strokes and cardiovascular disease.
* Smoking can cause the long-term effects of high blood pressure and can also show signs of immediate increase of blood pressure.
* Lung cancer and emphysema: Over the long run smoking increases the chance of lung cancer and emphysema in large strides.
* Increased heart rate has been seen in long-time smokers and also with those who have just begun.
* Smoking has also shown the ability of blood vessel damage.
* Just from smoking, your chances of respiratory problems are more then doubled. Smokers become more susceptible to Chronic Bronchitis, Pneumonia, and shortness of breath, flus, and asthma.
* Stomach problems that can be found due to smoking are cancer of the stomach, pancreas and colon. Another one of the many stomach smoking side effects is Aortic aneurysm.
* Increased aging process: The skin takes a long-term effect, causing wrinkles to show much quicker then non-smokers. Smoking increases the process of aging not only with in other areas of the body but also to the outer appearance of the body, your skin.

Plus most guys these days aren't attracted to women who smoke, they say it looks bad. Don't start and mess up your body. It's really a hard habit to break once you get into it and it has NO benefits at all.

My grandfathers brother died in our car from eczema while we were driving from her funeral, something that could have been avoided if he hadn't been smoking.

My dad was in intensive care for 2months and now has at age 50 osteoporosis from smoking.

My grandmother has chronic depression which was worsened by smoking and developed Chrons disease from it.

PLEASE DON'T start.

For saying what? That it is dangerous. The dangers of smoking has been proven. And it is addictive. So what are we saying above that is wrong?

It's a pretty disgusting habit, if you want foul breath and disgusting teeth in the years to come, then go ahead. Oh and if I were you I would have some character and strength and be who you want to be. Peer pressure and following the crowd is pretty sad.

Seriously, you do not need to start. I've done that before and smoked a few times with my friend until I figured out that I hated it. It has everything negative and no positives. You can't do a lot of clinical studies if you're a smoker, it's time consuming, takes lots of money, it stinks up your hair and your clothes, not to mention numerous health problems it will for sure cause you. You'd be surprised, but a lot of guys have said that they would never like to kiss a smoking girl. Smokers are much weaker than nonsmokers health wise. Good advise - don't start. It will save you a lot of problems in the future. If you're ever considering becoming a mother, you would surely want the best for your child, and quitting smoking because of the pregnancy and breastfeeding would be extremely hard.

The bad part is how it changes something in your brain that will make it basically impossible to quit.

Don't start smoking. I know someone who smokes and it only ends badly people die from it and during dinners you're so addicted you have to get up and go outside to smoke and everyone around you who doesn't smoke doesn't want to be around you anymore.

No it doesn't because smokers need more cigarettes the more stressed they are, if smoking helped for stress then you won't need more of an addicting thing to help alleviate the stress.

And exercise is MORE EFFECTIVE against stress and is a lot healthier for you.
