No... That's ridiculous. That's like saying ''is it odd for someone with green eyes to like horror films?'' Those two features - skin colour and taste in music - are completely independent of each other.

I agree with captainassassin, it definitely goes against common stereotypes of young black females, so I suppose it is odd in that way. But that's a GOOD thing. It's a good thing to be unique, and even better if you go against stereotypes. If you're helping to change people's views of a gender, race, age, (or, in your case, all THREE!) happy, then that's an amazing thing. Every time somebody does that it helps to change people's perceptions of other races. We're not all made from a cookie-cutter mold. Enjoy whatever music you want to.

It is unique, but not odd. In fact, two of the most significant and popular bands in the history of heavy metal are made up of all black musicians. The Bad Brains from Washington D.C. started playing punk-rock around 1979 and are still active today. And of course, don't forget about Living Colour who rocked the 1980s big hair scene. I have had several female black friends over the years who love heavy metal. So, you are not alone! Being diverse and multi-cultural makes you cool, not weird!

No not at all. Why would it be? A person's race has nothing to do with music. Anyone can listen to whatever music they want to. Don't worry about what others think - listen to what you like. Metal rules happy
