Has your belly button hurt for no reason before?

I was wondering if anyone had their navel hurt for no reason before, and if it went away after awhile. So this excludes belly buttons that hurt from pregnancy or piercings, because I have neither.

My belly button started hurting a few days ago out of...

nowhere when I went to bed. It hurts when I move in certain ways or lie on my side. I prodded it a little, and it hurts when I press in around the rim, but generally it hurts from the inside when I don't touch it. I took a look at it in the morning, and I thought it looked a little swollen on one side inside, but it wasn't red. I don't really tend to look at my navel every day, so maybe it was just my imagination. My boyfriend suggested that maybe it was bitten by something. I have no idea, but it still hurts. It hasn't really gotten any better, but it hasn't gotten any worse either.

I've Googled around a bit and came up with some possible reasons, some minor and some major, but I'd like to hear if anyone's experienced this before. I know if it persists for more than a week, I might have it checked out by a doctor

A friend of mine had that happen to her and she was diagnosed with a hernia.

I have and no it keeps coming back... I don't know what it is...

Oh well I went to the doctor about it and he said it was a cyst and said that it will go away eventually on its own, and prescribed me some antibiotics if it persisted. I didn't take the antibiotics and it went away on its own.

Sounds like you may need to go to the doctor to get it checked out if it's bothering you.
