mom doesn't believe me that somethings wrong with it even when I have her feel it. Since I take dance classes they bother my knee a lot but I love dancing so I'm not going to stop, but when I come home my knee gets really swollen. my friend has the same problem, he hurt his knee a few years ago and it didn heal properly, he still has pains if he strains it too much.
take it easy and dont allow it to swell up too much, use some wet towels on your knee so the swelling goes down.

You need to find a really good orthopedic surgeon. In general once knees are injured they are problematic for life. I know you like dance but you need to find out if your continuing to do this is going to put you on crutches later in life. When I started learning to play tennis I had bad problems with my knees. My doctor told me that I could play tennis but I had to limit my tennis playing and do more of other activities that were easier on the knees.

There is a big difference between going to a really good bone doctor and going to a fair one. Ask around to find out who the best orthopedic surgen is in your area.

If you aren't already, you should try taking glucosamine condroitin suppliments. Both my doctor and my orthopedic surgeon told me to take these for my joints. My doc said to stick with a name brand because cheap store brands of this suppliment are not always pharmacutical quality and may not have the full dose listed; she likes Osteo Bi-flex. This suppliment seems to be helping my joints though it could be a conicidence that I haven't had any problems since I started taking them.

I am the queen of knee injuries!!! I have run the full gauntlet of knee injuries and knee surgeries. My orthopedist is rated 5th in the nation.

You seriously need to see a good ortho. What you are describing sounds a lot like a torn meniscus. That is cartilage in your knee. It is easily repaired with an arthroscopi8c procedure that usually only takes about 30 minutes. There is a small amount of pain afterwards but not much.

That is what they thought I tore about a year ago but they said I didn't but it just keeps getting worse. If this is it afterwards will I be on crutches, and if so for how long?

It really depends on how bad the tear is. Some people are on their feet the next day and others it takes a few weeks. A meniscus tear is really hard to diagnose. It is often missed when they do the imaging for diagnosis. I would keep onto them since you are still having a significant amount of pain.

I went to the orthopedic doctor and they said I have jumpers knee which he said is common in young females and dancers. It's nothing serious I don't need surgery I just have to go to physical therapy 2 times a week for 3 weeks :]

you might have fluid in your knee. I know my brother had the same problem and they had to drain some fluid out to make it from making that noise. its possible thats what you got.
