What are the pros and cons of dying my hair?

I really want to give my hair a light brown/blonde frosting but I think I would miss my old hair color...can some one tell me bout therre own hair dying experiance and tell me the pros/cons of dying my hair! please! o and if you have frosted your hair that helps too-

if you're scared that you'll miss your natural hair, you should first dye your hair with semi-permanent dye, the kind that washes out after a while. and if you really like the new look, you can THEN dye your hair permanently :]

I've dyed my hair SOOO many times, and I don't really miss my natural hair color (jet black) because each time you dye it, it's something totally different!
