There are lots of models of eMachine computers but in general installing a hard drive is much the same on any PC.

If you are installing the disk drive internally than you will need a free drive bay, power, and data connection. You will need a hard drive with the same interface type as your disk controler (probably plain old ATA). Shut down your computer then open it up and secure your drive in a free drive bay, plug in power and data connections, reassemble your computer, power and boot it up, then configure your new storage in your operating system.

If you are installing an external USB drive than it is even easier. Plug your USB cable into your computer and hard drive and if your drive requires a power supply connect the transformer to a free plug on your surge protector and external hard drive. After you do this your new drive should be immediately availavble for use.
