First of all, the only way to get rid of and prevent split ends is to get your hair trimmed once every six weeks! Split ends do not permanently fuse back together with any kind of product and just get worse if you don't! To calm the frizziness of your hair, you could get some kind of smoothing serum, most of the hair product lines have a version of it, but John Freida works well for me! I have long hair too and I use my straightener to make curls... they last longer and are smoother to me than if you were using a curling iron! After you curl your hair, you can wear it down, half-up, or in a pony tail. When heat styling your hair, always make sure you use some kind of heat protectant product like Biosilk to avoid split ends as well! Good luck!
