Hairdying

moment... Asked by redhotchic about 1 year ago, 7 answers.

Ok im wanting to dye my hair a chocolate brown color, and my natural hair color is a redish brown... And it costs a lot to get it done at a beauty salon like $60!
How much does it cost for the dye it yourself kits you can buy at stores?
And how often...

would I have to re-dye it?
And does it even work???

They run anywhere around $10. They work. I have dyed my own hair plenty of different colors for a very long time now. Word of advice though, if you do dye it you should be sure to take good care of your hair. You should use the cream they give with the dye. The more you dye your hair the harsher the product is on your hair. (That goes with doing it yourself or getting it done)
As far as how often really depends on how fast your hair grows back. When you do touch it up you should only really do your roots. Doing your complete head ever time for the whole time is too harsh on your hair.

Hope this helps.

well I work in £'s not $'s soo bare with me becuase I am no good with conversions either! Sorryy .. I agree the price is a lot to have it done in a salon, I just do it myself, the home dye kits are around £3-£4 ...(im not sure how much in dollars!) make sure you go for a pernament colour as the non pernamnts wash out within 24washes.. the pernaments last upto 6weeks, and you will see a regrowth, they may fade but the whole colour will not come out! ...So yeah they suggest you re-dye every 6weeks depending on how fast your hair grows (or whenever you see your roots coming through or it starts to fade!)

It costs 8-15 dollars. You have to re-dye it when your roots get bad, it all depends on how fast your hair grows. And yes it does work, I've dyed my hair many times with it.

if this is the 1st time coloring your hair then I suggest shelling out the money...go to place that you can trust and tell the stylist exactly what you want. I think that $60 is actually pretty cheap- I live in NYC where a dye job runs at $100-150. so just think about how long you want to have this new color for (longer time=stylist) and how good you want it to look. hey, make it a summer treat for yourself : o )

the store has dyes for around 20.
I kept dyeing my hair myself because I didnt want to pay that much either and it always loked ok but I just got it dyed professionally the other day and it looks amazing.
I was hesitant to spend the money but it was worth every penny.
since I got it done there it will last longer, its a more thorough job, and its shinier than ever.
I love it.
so my recommendation is get it done despite the price. (if you REALLY want this)

It's not easy to get red out of your hair, trust me, I know. That's probably why they are wanting to charge you so much. You would of course save money using store bought boxes, but the results won't be as shiny or even. And you may be unlucky like me, having to buy like 4 or 5 boxes just to get the red out and killing your hair in the process. Good luck!
