Hair color

This past weekend I tried dyeing my hair and used a Dark Ash Blonde and it basically left it as the same color... Dark Brown w/ a light Reddish tint. What else can I do to get it to a lighter brown or should I just forget trying to get it a light brown and go w/ an Auburn...

you can go to a hair styling place and they will have to highlight your hair over and over until it gets to that color or you can bleach it then dye it..I tried to dye my hair from brown to blonde and my hair turned orange

As a rule store bought hair color will only lighten a couple of shades at the most. If you are wanting to lighten more than that then you have to bleach it and that is really not recommended to do at home by yourself.
