Why do guys hate to show there emotions?

I think it's a cultural thing. Most guys in america have grown up in a society where masculinity is important. That means not crying, playing sports, being tough, etc. I mean there are always exceptions, but for the most part that is how they were taught to be. But in other countries, it seems like men are more open about things and their emotions.

cause we are afraid to show we have them if I let everyone know I am emotional I would be a "whimp" or whatever you want to call it but I dont mind to show my emotions and I dont care what anyone thinks but I dont cry a lot but only when its needed

Well I show my emotions because I know that I am human, most men think being romantic and emotional is weakness so they try to hide how they really feel about things...
