Guitar recording?

Stills! Asked by alltheworldsastage about 1 year ago, 7 answers.

I have a cable to plug my guitar into my computer.

so im feeding my guitar to my amp, then another cable from my amp into my computer. its going from my amp out of the slot that says Head Phones.

anytime im standing anywhere near my amp with my...

guitar, it make a horrible high pitched sound.

And when I play, it gets really really staticy and messy.

I want to know if I might be doing something wrong, and if theres any way to fix it.

and also, im using Audacity to record with, I dont know if thats best, so if anybody knows of any FREE things that I can record music with thats better then audacity.

thanks so much!

if I dont use the amp, will it still be distorted though?

I play with distortion, so I dont want to plug straight into the computer and have it be clean, unless theres a way to distort it with my computer. anybody know if I can do that?

thanks

the headphone jack is powered. you need to use a line signal, there may or may not be one on that amp. sounds like you're overdriving the receiving unit with the powered headphone signal. a line signal gives no power out enabling you to get the sounds from the amp. check the back of the amp for the LINE OUT plug and try that

oh ok.

No I checked the amp, and theres no Line Out plug. the only plugs I see are Inst. Input (where I plug my guitar into) CD Input and Head Phones.

unless theres something else I can do, I guess I cant do it with a resonable sound.

thanks though

maybe you could get a cord for a mic that would go to your computer and try mic-ing the amp...
