Sergey Brin & Larry Page created Google while in the doctoral program at Stanford University. They dropped out of school to create the company Google Inc which started after they received a 100K investment from John Doer.

The check was made out to "Google Inc" which when they pitched him the concept over lunch, hadn't yet been formed.

Sergey Brin & Larry Page are currently tied at #5 of the list of richest Americans.
