I do 90% of the cooking in my house. First use spices like garlic, thyme, basil, Mrs Dash, etc and stay away from salt. If using oil, use either virgin or extra virgin olive oil, that are pressed from the olive fruit. Many of the plain olive oils or blended olive oils are made from the left over crushed fruit and have a chemical added to dissolve it into an oil, Not good.
One of my favorite dishes is to take either half a boneless chicken breast or one good size porkchop and chop it up into 1/2 - 3/4 inch chunks. ( the chicken breast I filet horizontal to the cutting board first, normally they are too thick). Then I saute it in a big fry pan in EV olive oil with garlic powder sprinkled on top. When the meat is almost done, I take a 16 oz. pkg of frozen veggies of my liking and add it to the pan and sautee for 2 or 3 minutes. At this time I get a medium pot of water (2-3 deep) and get it boiling with chopped garlic and dried basil in it. When boiling I add some egg noodles to it to cook. Back in the meat and veggie pan I add about 2 cups of water and add more spices to my liking (experiment, with the amount desired) and some corn starch (2tbsp) mixed in cold water. This makes a low sodium sauce like the ones you buy with mega sodium. When everything is done mix them together and serve. fresh mushrooms added to this type of dish adds a lot of flavor and few calories, so do fresh onions. Remember to limit your portions.
