How often is getting a trim necessary?

How often is it really necessary to get a trim if you are letting our hair grow out very long?

Well, since THIS question says you are trying to let your hair grow out, you should only trim it every 4-6 weeks I think!

If you're growning your hair out and it is in good condition you may be able to go 6-8 weeks, but yu do need to keep on a good schedule in order to keep your hair in good shape so it doesn't look like crap when it does get long. Gotta stay on top of any split ends so they don't travel on up the hair shaft.
