Gay people?

Yup I'm a Dad Asked by tvsnow about 1 year ago, 9 answers.

Ok, I'm not trying to diss homosexual people, I have nothing against them, seriously.
But I just don't understand how thats possible.
Men were meant to be attracted to women and women were meant to be attracted to men. It's just survival.
So are true...

gay people screwed up in the head? Or very confused?
Again, not trying to insult anyone, it just doesn't make physical sense.

If you're talking about through an evolutionary psychology frame of reference (I.e. survival of the fittest) I'm not entirely sure how they explain it... However, there are hundreds of animal species who display homosexual behavior (not just sex...).
Considering that there are very successful gay men and women, I seriously doubt homosexuality is a mental disorder. And it's nice the APA agrees with me...

I have to wonder though, if your question was so innocent, and you have nothing against homosexuals, why did you mark it fau?

We were made to be attracted to the opposite sex because we needed to remain populated. We don't need that, anymore. If anything, we're over-populated. That instinct is outdated.

Truly gay people are not confused. Those of us who are confused are the ones who are involved with women and who are convinced that we can change.

Let's break it down point by point, using the poster's own words:

1) I just don't understand how thats possible.

This is an important admission, as it acknowledges ignorance, and therefore, whatever comes after can be forgiven with some degree of latitude.

2) Men were meant to be attracted to women and women were meant to be attracted to men. It's just survival.

If you mean In order for a species to survive, sexual reproduction must take place, you're correct, assuming that we're only talking about those species that actually engage sexual reproduction (there are many other ways for DNA to propagate itself -- I can think of five offhand -- but we'll leave those for another day). But the evidence stands against you. Homosexuality in humans has existed as far back as we have written record of our existence, and there's more of us than ever.

3) So are true gay people screwed up in the head? Or very confused?

Many are very, very confused, yes, because they don't have loving guidance in their lives telling them that there is no right way to be human. For much of human history, difference were feared. It wasn't so long ago, remember, when schizophrenics were thought to be plagued by demons. The different among us are still feared, to some extent, but we're rapidly coming to an understanding that humanity can come in many forms. Some can even like jazz music now without being persecuted.

3) Again, not trying to insult anyone, it just doesn't make physical sense.

No one is insulted. But remember, just because something is new to you does not make it wrong. If we all thought that about everything, no one would try Indian food but Indians, and chicken makhni is the friggin' bomb. Don't be scared of the unusual. Talk to those around you who are gay, and you'll find them just like you -- people who are just trying to find someone to connect with.

Well love or what sex you like is not always logical. I'm not saying it is illogical either it's just fate. I also agree that we are over populated so it does not really matter. and remember that logic does not always make scence. and so nobody gets mad at me for my answere I am BISEXUAL .

Recent studies have shown that being homosexual is related to certain receptors in the brain. I think this is the article but I'm to lazy to read it again.

I agree with u, but recently there was a study done saying that it may be in the persons genes to be gay. in other words, its not a choice for them, its just how they are. I also find it weird to like the same sex, but everyone is different
