tseirpeht...
you are confused. The issue of legal gay marriage would not impact a church. Legal gay marriage is a civil issue. A heterosexual couple does not have to be married in a church for the marriage to be legal. Just as a homosexual couple would not have to be married in a church for the marriage to be legal. A legal marriage requires a government issued marriage license. The couple then selects the type of ceremony to have. Some people are married by a judge.
The legalization of gay marriage would NOT force a church to marry gay couples just as a church is not forced to marry a heterosexual couple. I am jewish, many christian churches would not allow me to be married in their church.
And I know of no couple, gay or straight, that would elect to be married in a church that did not recognize the union.

All adults should have the right to marry.

I'm not really sure. It's a pretty complicated thing. On one hand I think, why shouldn't all people have equal rights? This isn't the dark ages, for god's sake. Love is love and everyone should be able to express their commitment to the person they love through marriage vows and have the same legal rights as a married heterosexual couple. Then on the other hand, I still see marriage as a sacred union between a man and a woman. Maybe I'm a little old fashioned in some ways. I guess I stand somewhere in the middle. It's another grey area for me...

One major problem with gay marrage is that when a minister refuses to marry a gay couple out of religious conviction the government would tax his church. Now it may not sound that bad but you have to consider the minister is already paying taxes on income, the money that his church makes though goes towards the community. It would hurt a lot of low income communities. The church has already lost its freedom of speech. Regardless of what you think about G-d you can not deny that churchs play a vital role in helping the community. This is one part of the gay marriage bill that they wont mention.

They won't mention it because it is not true. Churches have the right to deny anyone from getting married in their church. This is about equal protection. The government can not deny some people the right to marry whom they want, while allowing others the same right. It has nothing to do with religion.

I think within the next ten years this will become a non-issue. The only ones really squalking about this are the reigious right, and they are becoming more and more irrelavant every day.

I have yet to hear one non-religious reason why gays should be denied the right to marry.

***I have yet to hear one non-religious reason why gays should be denied the right to marry.***

That's because there IS NONE. Gay people have the right to be just as miserable as everyone else...

From a federal standpoint, I think ALL forms of marriage should be referred to as 'domestic partnerships' ...and should allow anyone: homosexual or heterosexual, to qualify for the same tax breaks. Reinforced by ''separation of church and state'' ...the term 'marriage' should no longer be used (in legal documentation), since is bears religious significance.

Also, there seems to be no valid reasons why homosexuals shouldn't be allowed to marry; aside from religious views, which have no legal relevance anyway (separation of church and state, remember?)

What happens when a gay couple wants to get married in my church and we refuse? To liberals every matter of life is political and if no one agrees to what they want they get punished. You just can't accept losing on some issues can you? You have no respect for the religious rights of others. You have no clue how much you have SCREWED the church. But I know thats not enough for you, you want the complete destruction of anyone who does not believe in the goverment being the answers to everyones problem.

What happens when a gay couple wants to get married in my church and we refuse?

Nothing. Why would they want to in the first place?

To liberals every matter of life is political and if no one agrees to what they want they get punished.

Just a little bit of a generalization, huh? And what makes you think you know what liberals think?

You just can't accept losing on some issues can you?

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. How is denying people civil rights winning?

You have no respect for the religious rights of others.

And how does supporting civil rights for all people disrespect YOUR religion?

You have no clue how much you have SCREWED the church.

What affect will gay marriage have on YOUR church?

But I know thats not enough for you, you want the complete destruction of anyone who does not believe in the goverment being the answers to everyones problem.

Yes, we want complete destruction of anyone that is not a commie bastard!!!

tseirpeht, this triade is so idiotic, even for you.

Either give us a non-religious reason for banning gay marriage, or demonstrate how it would adversely affect your church, otherwise sit down and shut up! No one wants to hear you biggoted thoughts.

Nothing. You've brought this up before... and the answer is the SAME.

***To liberals every matter of life is political and if no one agrees to what they want they get punished. You just can't accept losing on some issues can you?***

Maybe you should be asking YOURSELF that question.

***You have no respect for the religious rights of others.***

Gay marriage is a FEDERAL issue, not a religious one. Deal with it.

***You have no clue how much you have SCREWED the church. But I know thats not enough for you, you want the complete destruction of anyone who does not believe in the goverment being the answers to everyones problem.***

You generalize... you're WRONG... as usual.

I don't see how our government or anyone for that matter can say after everything thats happened with descrimination and not allowing interracial marriages in the past, that gay marriage can't be accepted!! Some Americans are hypocrites!! I don't understand it.

So, I feel that anyone should be able to marry no matter what! Who are we to say who you can fall in love with? No matter race, religion, gender etc. you should marry whomever you please to!

For all intents and purposes, marriage is nothing but a legal contract...(the Courthouse is the alternative for a church, for getting married)...it's the LEGAL document in hand, signed by the parties and the official doing the marriage that makes the contract legal and binding.

No matter how you try to cut the cloth, it always come back to legality...and yes, gays should have to same legal rights as non-gays...In fact, in order do receive the so-called goodies straight people receive...such as SS, Health Insurance, be next of kin, etc etc...I'd INSIST that they be married...

What started out many years ago as a legitimate demand of equal legal rights...and now has turned into a battle over damned word...Marriage...both sides need to get a grip.

This is my opinion,if God gave us all free will, who r we to turn around and take away that right from each other, the bible says that only God can judge us, so let them get married let God deal with in when he comes, in the meant time people just need to mind their own business and stop judging eachother...
