then theres always the risk of stds so its best to use a condom

That's not what he means...here's the thing--of course it will hurt, regardless of your gender, stretching a hole in your body to accomodate things that are larger will always hurt at first--but that's frankly part of the fun (or so bottoms tell me). The thing about harm is--the more you stretch it out, the looser it will become--this could be a problem when you're in a longterm relationship with one man and his penis--it won't be as tight and feel as good--however, I've heard that kegels help (like women do after giving birth) to tighten it back up.
